Throwback Thursday – Sonny’s Tavern & The Lemon Meringue Cocktail

David and I kicked off the week, with a visit to one of our favorite spots in Dover, NH; Sonny’s Tavern ❤️ and of course with a visit to Sonny’s I decided a throwback to my Lemon Meringue Cocktail was needed. Two, it’s Thirsty Thursday friends.

We’ve considered Sonny’s our local spot since they opened in 2013 for four reasons:

1. Our love is named Sonny!

Our beautiful Sonny ❤️

2. They opened in the former Barley Pub, which was a younger self local favorite.

3. They make incredible food, cocktails and have great beers on draft.

4. The vibe is a smooth and funky with top notch service!

That feels more like eight reasons, but bottomline; its great and you NEED TO GET TO SONNY’S TAVERN!

On Monday, we visited Sonny’s for their Bird & Brew special. This special includes a Fried Chicken Sandwich, with house pickles and Alabama White Sauce & a draft beer of your choice for $10. Did I mention, they pour many local beers (i.e. Chapel + Main, Stoneface, Smuttynose)?

David and I looked at the menu and we were deciding between two starters: Grilled Shrimp/Olive/Ham/Cherry Peppers or Trout/Shishito Peppers/Pork which both sounded amazing…until the server came around and told us about their special starters which included Smoked Salmon Toast with Marscapone/Pickled Onions/Radish/Pea Shoots/Sprouts. OMG, we were immediately intrigued by the special and it was amazing!

Beautiful and VERY tasty Smoked Salmon Toast!

Our Chicken Sandwiches arrived shortly after.

Look at that Alabama White Sauce 😍
If you’re going to have a Fried Chicken Sandwich, of course you need some Parmesan Truffle Fries!

Boy was it a delicious visit! Thanks as always Sonny’s Tavern & cheers!
