Summer afternoons at the club π
My husband is a member at The Oaks in Somersworth, New Hampshire and today I’m spending some time sharing all the delicious food we experienced at The Oaks Grille & Deck this summer. I absolutely LOVE this place β€, the view is fabolous and the food is equally amazing. I can be quite critical of food when I go out and The Oaks put out some AMAZING food, this summer.
David, will typically play some golf or will practice his game at the range and I’ll sit on the deck with a cocktail and read my book or relax with a friend, nothing wrong with that on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon π

As I mentioned, the view is tremendous from the deck.

The menu is divided into seven sections, starter/shareables/appetizers, salads/soup/chili, flatbread, small plates, burgers & dogs, sandwiches and entrees. Below I have a number of the categories covered and the categories I’ve missed are sure to have delicious eats, trust me π
Starter/Shareables/Appetizers
Our go-to starter has been the Steak & Cheese Spring Rolls and boy are they delicious, super crispy and creamy with the provolone cheese. We’ve had a few orders of this shareable this summer and each time, it’s been delish π

Salads/Soups/Chili
Since we’re usually going in the late afternoon, I typically go with a salad and while salads can often be simple, I think their proteins and freshness are spot-on! I love that the salads aren’t overly big and I find them completely manageable to finish. Below is Scampi Style Shrimp on a Greek Salad.

I love their Cobb salad because it’s served with field greens, sweet pea, crispy bacon, shredded cheddar and avocado. This salad typically comes with roasted turkey, but I opt for buffalo chicken tenders because I’ll bring two home for my Monday work salad.

You’re able to pick a protein for your salad at an additional cost (i.e. Marinated Steak Tips, Scampi Style Shrimp, Fried Chicken, Grilled Chicken, Pan Seared Salmon, and Crab Cake) and here I selected their Pan Seared Salmon with their Caesar Salad. It was amazing, cooked to perfection and the presentation was great!

All summer, I’ve been eying their Fish Chowder and in preparation for this post, I gave it a try and it was creamy and delicious. It’s a new england style with haddock, bacon, potato, celery and fine herbs. I do wish I got more fish, but still yummy with it’s bits of bacon and creaminess.

Since I was trying the chowder, David got the Chili. They make their chili with steak, pork, sweet onion, garlic, dried chilis, tomato, beer and cumin.

Small Plates
They have a number of small plates, which is essentially a smaller portion of the dinner entree (i.e. 1/4 of ribs, steak tips or slater chicken). Below is the fish & chips, which isn’t so small with 4 pieces of haddock π

Sandwiches
Again in preparation for this post, we sampled some sandwiches. Sandwiches are served with homemade chips and pickle and you can substitute the homemade chips; with fries, sweet potato fries, waffle fries or onion straws; at an additional cost.
I am a Grilled Reuben snob, let me state that before I provide my opinion π If you’re grilling a Reuben, I want a grilled bread with oozy swiss. While the corned beef was tasty, it didn’t hit the mark, but again I have high expectations when it comes to a Reuben π

David opted for the Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich, which is served on a grilled brioche roll with sliced chicken thigh, field greens, tomato, and chipotle aioli.

Entrees
They don’t begin serving entrees until 4:30PM, so if we’re on the later side or joining friends on Friday or Saturday night, we’ll opt for an entree. Their options seem to have something for everyone.

Not only can you get Bourbon BBQ Steak Tips, but you can also get Korean BBQ Steak Tips. The Korean BBQ is far superior to the Bourbon BBQ, in my opinion.

Weekly/Summer Specials
Some of the best meals at The Oaks Grille & Deck have been during their theme weeks or specials. Below is their Lobster Roll, which is lightly dressed with tons of lobster. It is one of the best I’ve had in the Seacoast β€ and only $17.50!

Here is a Glazed Pork Belly that was also featured during one of their specials and it was AMAZING, as well.

I believe they serve their desserts as specials. We typically don’t do desserts, but when we saw chocolate mousse we needed to give it a try, and boy was it creamy and delicious.

Service and Cocktails
The service is great and Jeanne is usually behind the bar. They usually have drink specials created by the staff, White Sangria, Red Sangria and other fancy summer cocktails. They also have a great bar selection with local bars (i.e. Stoneface, Moat Mountain), as well as domestic beers. i was disappointed because this summer they didn’t carry Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, which was usually my go to.

I think that wraps up my reflection of The Oaks Grille & Bar, but if you follow me on Instagram @ Jackie’s Eats & Treat, I’ll post our later summer/fall visits. Also if you live local, I strongly suggest a visit since it’s open to the public or join David and I some Saturday or Sunday afternoon π The view and food are worth the visit, trust me. Thank you, Chef Rob and staff for a delicious and enjoyable summer at The Oaks Grille & Deck, cheers π»
