Dinner at Sonny’s Tavern
Sonny’s Tavern is hands down one of our absolute favorites in Dover, New Hampshire. It’s the ultimate gastropub, serving up amazing cocktails, beers, and delicious food. Sonny’s could easily be in NYC, with it’s inventive cocktail menu and chic ambiance; and we’re lucky to have such a gem in our town.

Mark Ryan, is Sonny’s very talented bartender and has been featured in quite a few publications around his amazing cocktails. The drinks he’s creating are special and unique with infused spirits, homemade creams, scratch bitters and egg whites. His cocktails have certainly inspired many of our “treat”, (i.e. Lemon Meringue) aka cocktails, at home 😉

The food menu offers delicious Beginnings, Bites, Mains, Sandwiches, Plates and they recently began offering a 5 or 7 Tasting Menu. I’m often impressed with their menu and can attest that many of the Beginnings (e.g. Grilled Shrimp and Pork Belly) and Bits (e.g. Cast Iron Olives, Rotating Deviled Eggs, Chicken Cracklins and Parmesan & Truffle Fries) are pretty fabolous.

As soon as we sat down, we heard about their specials for the evening; Salmon & Fish Croquettes and a chicken sandwich and a beer combo. David and I want specifically for the Bird & Brew special at $10, but were immediately intrigued by the croquette and ordered those as well 😉
What I love is about the Bird and Brew special is that you can get any beer and their 🍺 menu usually offers a few local beers as well as some others that are special. I went with Stoneface IPA which is one of my favorite beers ❤️

The Salmon Croquettes arrived and were fabolous; crispiness, salmon, salty goodness with a great aioli.

Our chicken sandwich arrived and was also delicious; pretzel roll, crispy chicken thigh, dressed greens, house pickles and Alabama white sauce 😋

It was definitely worth leaving the cocoon for our meal out tonight, absolutely delicious! If you’re local and haven’t tried Sonny’s get there and if you’re visiting, Sonny’s is worth a visit.
