Thanksgiving – Your Guide to Delicious Eats & Treats

Thanksgiving is around the corner and Jackie’s Eats & Treats is here for you as you prepare your festivities, whether it’s cocktails, munchies, cooking your poultry, the sides or dessert!!!

In this post, I’m sharing a guide to delicious food that fits with the Thanksgiving theme or sits at my own Thanksgiving table. However, if you’re looking for general ‘eats’ & ‘treats,’ just use the search feature at the top of your screen (mobile) or to the right (desktop) and search or scroll around on my homepage and see what grabs your fancy πŸ‘. Two, it’s COVID days, so you can get away with just about anything at the dinner table πŸ˜‰ during COVID Turkey Day πŸ¦ƒ.

But before I share, I bit about my Thanksgiving must-haves, which include Sausage Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes with Epic Scratch Gravy and Creamed Saged Onions.

And of course great cocktails are needed with any holiday festivities and featured below is my Whiskey Blackberry Lemonade, which is the ultimate celebration cocktail!

Cocktails to get the party started because festivities aren’t complete with a cocktail in hand…

Whiskey Blackberry Lemonade – This is an absolute favorite in our household!!! A bit of lemon tang, blackberry and Prosecco sweetness and whiskey sting never hurt anyone! Check out this recipe if you’re looking for the ultimate celebration cocktail.

Lemon Meringue Cocktail – A wonderful after-dinner drink that tastes just like the pie and if you’re like me and you focus more on the cooking and less on the dessert, this cocktail is for you! Or if you love the pie, THIS IS A MUST HAVE!!!

French 75 – A signature cocktail for any occasion!!!

And of course you need some Munchies to accompany your cocktail…

Creamy Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms – These incredibly creamy delicious stuffed mushrooms can be made ahead of time and baked when ready and who doesn’t love the idea of made-ahead munchies!!!

The Perfect Charcuterie Board – A charcuterie board is a great way to begin any celebration, click the link to get inspired!

Pimento Cheese Spread – MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!!! My version has a bit of heat, a punch of garlic and lemon zest sting which helps to deliver a flavor explosion! If you haven’t checked this post out yet, get on over there!!! Note: This spread is best made the day before, so perfect if you’re looking for less stress on Thanksgiving πŸ¦ƒ!

Poultry perfection because no one wants a dry bird…

I don’t know about you, but I don’t love turkey and I often opt for chicken around the holidays! Here’s my recipe to my delicious Roast Chicken (which you could also use for turkey). You ask what makes my roast chicken so wonderful and juicy, I add a Garlic & Herb Compound Butter under the skin, which also makes for the MOST INCREDIBLE DRIPPING FOR EPIC GRAVY.

And what’s Thanksgiving without incredible sides, am I right

Mashed Potatoes – I’ve never posted mashed potatoes, but you can’t go wrong with those at Thanksgiving. I like adding sour cream and butter to my mashed potatoes which makes for some creamy deliriousness πŸ˜‹!

Roast Potatoes – My husband makes the most incredible roast potatoes. A shallow fry in EVOO is his secret to potatoes that have crisp outside and creaminess inside!

Cheesy Bacon Scalloped Potatoes – Check this recipe out if you love scalloped potatoes because it’s dreamy creamy goodness! Note: These scalloped potatoes can be made in advance!

Hash Brown Casserole – A go-to for holidays, social gatherings, family get together or Sunday dinner! This casserole can be thrown together in about 10-15 minutes and baked when ready (can even be made ahead of time), which makes it easy peasy on Thanksgiving!

Potato Apple Gratin – New to my site and cream heaven with blue cheese funk and sweetness from the apple. Check out this recipe if you’re looking for something new and different at your Thanksgiving table πŸ¦ƒ.

Mac & Cheese – Many Thanksgiving tables include Mac & Cheese and here’s my Super Creamy Mac & Cheese recipe which has you covered with 3 types of cheese for the absolute cheese pull!

Sausage Stuffing – This is the star at the Thanksgiving table. My version is topped with bacon because who doesn’t love bacon! I also include two types of bread, sourdough and corn, and I cook my veggies in my garlic & herb compound butter which makes for AMAZING stuffing!!!

And let’s not forget the treats…

Apple Crumble – This crumble includes stewed apples and has a buttery crumb topper that puts a smile on your face.

Banana Fosters – I haven’t posted this, but it has been a go-to lately for us because it’s so easy. Simply slice two bananas and add to a heated skillet with 1TBSP of butter, add a bit of brown sugar, touch of salt and splash of dark rum. Let them get saucy and golden and enjoy or serve on vanilla ice cream, so tasty!

Adult Milkshakes – Here’s a tasty dessert like cocktail because who doesn’t love a boozy milkshake.

Creme Brulee – These can be made ahead of time and add the sugar for a show stopper during your Thanksgiving celebration.

And if you made my wonderful Whiskey Blackberry Lemonade, hold onto those stewed berries and make a delicious Chambord Berry Milkshake. Simply add two scoops of vanilla ice cream, half the stewed berries, top the ice cream and berries with milk and a splash of Chambord and blend away and you’ll have an incredibly berry liquid dessert.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving πŸ¦ƒ and please stay safe and wear a mask or keep your social distance if you’re attending a family/friends gathering, we need to keep our communities safe πŸ™!!! Cheers πŸ₯‚!
